WE’VE GOT

THE GRAINS

From base malts to specialty malts, we’ve got you covered

With nearly 60 varieties across a spectrum of grains, choose from base malts and signature roasted malts to flaked and roasted grains. We roast the rainbow; Light and crisp Batavia Biscuit roasts to caramel-y Saranac Special roasts, dried fruit ‘n toffee Chocolate roasts to our deepest Wicked Dark roasts. The mysteries of our Crystal malts are contained in their glassy interior, lending a depth of sweetness (nuttiness in the darker crystals) and color from lagers and darker ales to porters and stouts. Our cold-smoked malt is made from the cuttings of our farm’s orchard and coaxed into fragrant notes that linger softly on the palate, while our steam-conditioned flakes come in corn, wheat, barley, rye, and oats and exceed the analytics on commodity flakes from the bigger guys.

SHOP NEW YORK CRAFT MALT MERCH

“Big Ditch has used NY Craft Malt since the first year we opened in 2014. We've always been pleased with the consistency and the unique flavor that Erie Canal Pale Malt brings to our beers, particularly our "100% NY Pale Ale" brewed only with NY Craft Malt and New York State hops.”

-Matt Kahn, President & CEO - Big Ditch Brewing Co

"NY Craft Malt has provided me with a high-quality source of NY-grown base and specialty brewing grains for our 100% NY-ingredient brewery in the Hudson Valley. Previously, I struggled to find a supplier of uniform, consistent ingredients from specialty malt suppliers who prepared NY-grown grain and I was often forced to substitute one maltster's grain for another. As a result, our products had noticeable variations between batches. Since switching to Ted and Patty's products, we have seen a significant increase in our quality control and consistency, and our beer quality has improved substantially. Thanks for making such high-quality malts from locally grown grain, we have come to rely on them!”

- Matt Schulze, Head Brewer - Arrowood Farm Brewery
